List of Musical Compositions

1997-2001 Small Pieces
I became interested in composing music around age eleven and attempted to
write some small pieces of music and songs and was introduced to electronic music.

2002 Electronic Music (recording)
My first experiments in high school with electronic music span a variety of styles,
and include my own playing, and are jazz influenced. Around this time I played in a number of bands in a wide range of styles.

2002-10 Piano Sonata Movement
My first classical composition influenced by minimalism and romanticism to a degree. It was started when I was 16 but remained unfinished for several years.

2003 Prelude
This piece was written as a senior in high school. It shows an understanding of late romanticism and has a very lyrical melody after eastern European and Russian composers.

2004-10 Phase Composition
A minimalist piece influenced by Steve Reich also written in high school after I was living in New York and had interned at a studio run by Ohio Express vocalist Joey Levine. It was finished several years later.

2005 Generative music for piano
When I was a freshmen and sophomore in college I became interested in alternate methods of composing music by generating intervals that shifted between consonance and dissonance and the micro-macrocosmic relationships in the piece.

2006 Pick a Color
An experimental text piece of music where each improvisor picks a color and follows instructions for the color.
At the time I was studying Jazz with Joanne Brackeen.

2006 Redial for Mobile Phones
A ringtone piece in the style of Terry Riley. It was performed on six pianos at Berklee in March 2006.

2006 Medley for Orchestra
A pop influenced symphonic medley combining electronic and rock instrumentation with an orchestra.

2006 Surprise (recording)
An electro acoustic piece using sounds from a gamelan ensemble and performed with various metallophone sounds and electronic instrumentation.
It was performed at Skylab Gallery in Columbus Ohio on May 1, 2010

2006 Matahari: Dance of the Sun (recording)
A recording made with my friend Loque from the Malaysian band Butterfingers in a style similar to John Zorn.
It's a wild piece of music with many influences, possibly Henry Cowell, Scriabin, and Miles Davis.

2007-10 Tango
A simple piano tango piece in Classical sonata form.

2007 Sonata Movement
Another sonata movement in the style of Maurice Ravel.

2007 Minuet after Ravel and other impressionists.

2008 Tracks (compilation)
Several electro tracks and remixes from college with influences such as Herbie Hancock and Kraftwerk.

2008 Ten Jazz Songs
A compilation of Jazz tunes that were written throughout my college years.

2008 Ten Folk Songs
A compilation of indie pop and folk songs that were written in college.

2008 Improvisations (recording)
A free jazz recording made with a large ensemble that included vibraphone and bass clarinet possibly influenced by Bartok and Stravinsky.

2008 Gradus ad Parnassum
I spent almost two years studying counterpoint and wrote a large number of pedagogical pieces and perhaps dozens of canons.

2008 Minuet
A simple piano minuet.

2009 Quartet
A classical quartet in the style of Haydn that is going to be used for something soon...

2009 Prelude
A piano prelude after Chopin

2009 Two Inventions
One was for Beth Murphy of Times New Viking, and the other was for Ric Ocasek of the Cars, Columbus, Ohio rock and rollers.

2009 Four Fugues
From various historical periods, the Renaissance, Baroque and a popular one, in the style of Bernstein.

2009 Music of the Spheres (instrument)
An instrument I designed using what is called a tonnetz and chaos.

2009 Spectral Composition (recording)
This piece was performed with Robin Baida improvising violin on tone rows generated by the computer with
spectral music influenced by underground rock bands.

2010 Ten Popular Songs (compilation)
A number of songs that I made during college which include a version of Internet Killed the Video Star, and an international anthem for the moon that was originally recorded with Jeff Apprusseze of Passion Pit, among other songs.

2010 Solo Improvisations (recording)
A number of complex and intricate piano recordings combining a diverse range of styles.

2010 Sonata
A modernist sonata after Copland, Gershwin, Ives, and others. It was performed in part at a Wolf Eyes show in July 2010.

2010 Forthcoming
Eden for Orchestra
An environmentalist world music influenced piece.
